New Zealand
Blind Tennis
The Full Story
About
Blind and low vision tennis has been around for decades, starting in Japan and then spreading world wide.
New Zealand's story is in its infancy, however, it is gaining momentum very quickly.

What is BLV tennis?
BLV tennis has been developed to maintain the 3D aspect of traditional tennis, with play and scoring the same. The number of bounces, and the courts size are modified for each different visual category, the ball is slightly larger, and it has a rattle in it to make it audible for the players to track it.
Vision
Our vision is that any BLV person who wishes to play BLVT socially or competitively in NZ will be able to easily access the tools they need to do so.
We are establishing a BLVT community to encourage fellowship and competition opportunities. Aswell as creating a directory of coaches and BLVT sessions available nationally.
Internationally we are creating connections with other countries to establish the ability for BLV people to participate in BLVT wherever they are, giving a framework for qualifying for and entering in international events.
In the future we hope to be able to hold national and international training camps and competitions alongside great organisations such as Tennis NZ, Blind Sport NZ and the IBTA
